Urgent: Officials Needed
April 20th
Greetings Cuda Families,
Our swim season is fast approaching and preseason prep is well underway! This includes official training. We are still in need of several new officials. The first training opportunity is Saturday. Please consider volunteering as an official at home meets. If you are interested please contact Jeff King at [email protected] as soon as possible. Details are below.
We are looking to add 2 or 3 new swim officials this summer swim season. The following provides some details.
- No experience necessary! Only requirements are that you own a white shirt, blue shorts, comfy shoes/sandals, and cool sunglasses.
- How much swim stroke knowledge do you need? None! All new and old officials are required to attend one 1-hour pre-season training session. This could be either April 23rd at 9am or May 9th at 5:30pm - both in the Dells. If neither of these work for you, then we can figure out an alternative.
- All new officials will shadow our current swim officials for about 3 or 4 meets - or until they feel comfortable. This is the best way to learn the strokes and meet procedures.
- Each dual meet needs 5 officials - one at each corner of the pool and a starter. We currently have 4 Cuda officials. The away team also provides one official. We obviously need more officials!
- Pros: You get the best view of the meet! Looks great on a resume! Get to trick your friends and family members that you know something about swimming! And sometimes you get free water!
- Con: You might DQ your kid - but great chance they forget in 20 or 30 years. No seriously, our officials' purpose is not to DQ swimmers. Officials try to keep the meet fair; along with our other volunteers, keep the meet running smoothly; and have lots of fun!
Please contact Jeff King, at [email protected], if you are interested or would like any additional information.
